Final Precedent

I have chosen a part of my initial precedent that best conveys the ideas i want to communicate which are entrapment, defiance and freedom. I will take this form into solid works to form my starting point that will inform my project's iterations.

Initial Precedent

Verb: Defy

I have chosen the word defy as it relates to words such as freedom and oppression. These two words offer a lot of contrast to one another and contrast is an element id like to obtain in my designs. 

In this quite literal concept the fist has great connotations of power and in many cases oppression can be cause from power. The irony in this concept is that inner power can also create freedom and the drawing shows the power squeezing "freedom" into the negative space so it can in turn be free. 

 This more abstract drawing evokes the feeling of defiance through the contrast between the two main elements. The two elements are both very powerful symbols of the ideas mention above (oppression and freedom). 

There is a cage like structure which refers to the many types of oppression there are. The other more liquified substance represent the people who over come such barriers and oppression.
