Working with Materials

Next Iterations

I have added curves to the spikes so that they intersect with the ball more smoothly.

First Iterations

My first iteration shows my experimentation with the shape of the shell. I curved it to entrap the spiked ball underneath it. It could be more effective if the spiked ball is totally surrounded by the shell to inforce the idea of entarpment in my work.

The Centre of the Eye

As seen in my sketches, the centre of the eye will be formed as a spiked ball. This was all done in 3ds Max using the simple shaping tools.

More and more spikes were added untill it became difficult to see the spherical shape itself but rather just a collections of spikes extruding from one point.

Contructing the Shell

My first step after my sketches was to construct the outer shell. I did this by drawing the Veins in Illustrator so that it could easily be imported into solid works and the extruded into a 3d form.

After the veins were extruded in solid works, I imported them into 3ds max to start working on curving them into a shell like structure.
